A generational soundtrack
What is indie in 2025? A genre? A style? An artistic management model?
There are many different answers from many music experts and scholars, but what they agree on is that it’s a type of sensitivity shared by the artists and bands who define themselves that way. A sensitivity that allows them to step outside the mainstream without ceasing to be pop, to remain underground while still reaching a wide audience.
And in Italy, indie is a generational phenomenon.

Indie Italia is the Spotify playlist where multiple Italian bands and musicians, with different genres and styles, come together under this shared sensitivity. For the development of its image, it needed an aesthetic capable of embracing the codes of rock, pop, R&B, and electronic music, as well as all the projects that fluidly combine these genres.

That’s why the cover design is based on a DIY or “Do It Yourself” aesthetic, inspired by collage with torn tape, wrapping around the photograph.
The mix of textures and overlapping elements, along with a warm color palette, evokes conflicting feelings such as happiness and sadness, nostalgia and fun—just like the songs themselves. This style aims to represent the indie spirit of the playlist: spontaneity and authenticity with a strong emotional impact.
