Creating the identity for a public television show centered around one of Spain’s most iconic entertainers comes with a unique challenge: crafting a concept with as much personality as the host himself.

Futuro Imperfecto is Andreu Buenafuente’s debut on public television, in which he takes the stage alone, in front of 700 people, and delivers sharp, unfiltered humor about current events and the people making headlines.

The visual approach is minimalist, a deliberate move away from the glossy, 3D-heavy styles we often see on television. We developed the logo, a color palette, background screens, chyrons, transitions, and more. The foundation came from Buenafuente’s own drawings, which we enhanced with textures to give them a more analog, handcrafted feel.

Our goal was to reflect this imperfect world using humor, irony, and a sense of play. We took inspiration from shapes that resemble children's toys. These forms became the imperfect yet perfect starting point for building quirky characters and visual metaphors.

The animations feature these shapes coming together to form delicate structures that collapse when a single element fails, much like real life. They are the foundation of the visual system: flexible, layered, and adaptable, designed to evolve with the needs of each episode.

This show makes fun of everything and everyone, including itself. That’s why public figures shown on the background screens appear as exaggerated caricatures with oversized heads.

The result is a visual identity grounded in simplicity and minimalism. It reflects the show’s core themes and supports each segment with the signature humor and irony that audiences expect from Buenafuente.
